Washer not draining
Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle. On front-loaders, check the coin trap behind the small panel at the bottom first — socks and coins are the usual suspects. If it's clean, the drain pump has likely failed.
Usual causes: clogged pump filter / coin trap · drain pump · kinked drain hose · LG OE / Samsung 5C (nd) codes
Washer not spinning
Clothes come out soaking wet. The machine may think the door isn't locked, may be unbalanced, or the belt or motor coupler may be worn.
Usual causes: door lock / lid switch · drive belt · motor coupler · shock absorbers · LG UE / Samsung UB (dC) codes
Washer leaking water
A puddle in front usually means a torn door boot or a clogged drain; underneath, a pump or hose. We find the source before replacing anything.
Usual causes: door boot seal · drain pump · inlet hoses · dispenser · tub seal
Washer shaking or banging
Violent shaking on spin is often worn suspension, not just an unbalanced load. Keep it off until it's checked — a walking washer can damage floors and hoses.
Usual causes: shock absorbers · suspension springs or rods · leveling feet · drum bearings
Washer won't start or stops mid-cycle
Lights come on but nothing happens, or it stops with the door locked. Usually a door lock, water supply or control issue.
Usual causes: door lock assembly · water inlet valve · control board · lid switch
Front-load washer smells
Musty smell and black residue on the door boot come from trapped water and detergent. A cleaning cycle helps; if the pump or drain is slow, it keeps coming back.
Usual causes: door boot · slow drain · detergent buildup · hard water scale
