Dryer not heating

The drum turns but the air stays cold. On electric dryers it's usually the heating element or a blown thermal fuse; on gas dryers, the igniter or gas valve coils.

Dryer takes too long to dry

If one load needs two cycles, the first suspect is restricted airflow — lint in the vent line, a crushed duct behind the dryer, or a vent cap that doesn't open.

Dryer not spinning

Motor hums or runs but the drum doesn't turn — a broken belt or a seized idler pulley.

Squeaks and thumps usually mean worn drum rollers, glides or the idler pulley. Fixing it early prevents a broken belt.

Nothing happens when you press start, or it clicks and stops. Often the door switch, thermal fuse or start switch.

Before you call — quick checks

Clean the lint screen and check the vent hood outside — does air blow out strongly while it runs?
If you smell burning or the top of the dryer is very hot, stop using it and call.
Gas dryer: if you smell gas, leave the house and call SoCalGas first.

Do you clean dryer vents?

We check the vent on every dryer call and clear the section behind the dryer. Long roof runs may need a dedicated vent-cleaning service — we'll tell you if so.

Gas or electric?

Both. Gas dryers usually fail at the igniter or valve coils, electric ones at the element or thermal fuse.

How much is the service call?

The diagnostic service call is $79. If you approve the repair, the $79 is applied toward it — you pay only the quoted repair price. If you decide not to repair, you pay just the $79.
